Entry/ Foyer Tour and Sources
We just finished adding DIY box beams to this space (blog post coming soon) and now it finally feels “complete”. As I type that, I’m thinking about how I want to add vertical paneling to the opposite wall and around the doorway in here and realize I’ve just contradicted myself. Moving on. Ha!
Did you know we didn’t used to have an entry hallway? The wall you see to the right of the window used to be a pass through to the kitchen! It was awkward and I didn’t like it. So when we renovated the kitchen, we closed off that wall and added open shelving to the other side. I’m so glad we did it!!
This was our kitchen without the open shelving and breakfast nook! And through that walkway to the right is the front door. Crazy, right??!!
Where the hat and coat is hanging on the right wall is where that walk through used to be. Much better this way!
FAQ: The ceilings are about 10’ tall in here and the paint color is Benjamin Moore White Dove. A couple years back we added the vertical panels and I have a blog post here showing how we did that. The door is painted BM Midnight Dream. It’s a strange color because in the can and for the first coat it looks navy. Then you paint another coat and its very black. I love it. But you’ve been warned that it will freak you out until coat two. The door hardware was an upgrade and you can find the interior here and the exterior here.
I get asked a lot of questions on where I got things we have in here so I’m going to link everything I can here in one place and find you some similar items for things that are no longer sold or one of a kind.
The hooks are so cute and I love the hammered texture and leather detail. However, its not longer sold. UGH. But I found these super simple black hooks and you could add your own leather detail and still come in with a VERY budget friendly option. The art was a Homegoods find. I reframed it with an online framing company. Here is a similar print available on etsy that you could get printed and framed online if you like this look. The frame measures 42” x 32”.
The bench was from World Market but they no longer sell it. Here are some similar benches to get the look. Option 1 Option 2
The basket is years old but here is a similar one. I lined it with a plastic saucer so I can put live plants inside without getting my floor soaked. That fern? She’s real. And she’s spectacular. ;) Let’s see how long I can keep her that way.
The rug is one of a kind from Revival Rugs. They have SO many pretty vintage rugs in lots of sizes. My entry is about 6’ x 8’ and the rug is a 3’x6’ for reference.
On the opposite side, I got a vintage pegrail from Goodwill for $3! This one is similar. I love to have hooks by the front door so guests have a place for their purses.
The pendant was one of those purchases I made for our home that made me feel instantly cooler. Like you can’t have this wooden light and not be cool right? But then my local Panera Bread bought them and installed them in all of their cafes when they remodeled. And I felt way less cool. Jerks. JK But I’m still cool with this light and you can be too!!! (Please note- the shop I got mine no longer carries it and I’ve never bought from this website I linked here before. It’s the lowest price I could find. You can search “octo wood pendant” and see if you find a better source. The prices range a LOT.) This one is similar and a very good deal!
This part of the house isn’t technically the entry but its close enough. The cabinet was a lucky Homegoods find but this is pretty similar. The lamp is this cutie. The mirror is a great price and can go anywhere! This fern is a phony but the paper mache bowl is the real deal and it was a gift from my friend, Tamara. Hey girl, hey!!
I think that about covers it! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions. Thanks for stopping by and you can follow along on instagram @hartley_home for daily updates!
