Making a Well Styled Bed with Overstock

To say that I am excited about my new bed from Overstock is an understatement. Guys- I’m in LOVE! I mean, look at this cutie!

Meet the Mid Century Platform Bed by Baxton Studio. So good, right?! Let’s talk about this headboard. I went with the beige but it also comes in grey and they’re both so pretty. The fabric is high quality and soft too! I love the clean lines of it and that’s its simple and has a laid back vibe. I want my bedroom to be a place where we feel completely at ease and this bed is making that happen.

With most upholstered beds, the base is upholstered as well. I have two dogs that like to make trouble, if you know what I mean, so I was looking for a bed with a wooden base. But I also wanted an upholstered headboard. And then I found this one: ding, ding, ding! The wood is such a pretty color and makes the bed look high end without feeling too formal. It’s the perfect combo for me.

Now that I have this beautiful new bed, I of course had to play dress up with it! So now, let’s talk about how to simply style your bed to get this casual, yet pulled together look.

Step 1: I use a fitted sheet and a flat sheet. I pull the flat sheet up all the way to the top of the mattress.

Step 2: Lay your pillows on top of the sheet. I do three standard size to sleep with, and two king size on top for looks.

Step 3: I always love a white duvet. It allows you to change up the pillows and blankets whenever you like without having to buy a new duvet cover. I pull mine down about 1/3 of the way to allow space for my pretty throw pillows.

Step 4: Add your pillows! For this look, I used two euro shams 26"x26”, two 22” pillows, and a 14x20 lumbar. I am constantly swapping out my pillows to get a fresh look. Sometimes I use two King shams vs the euro shams. You can use a couple of shams with an extra wide lumbar and forget the rest… there are so many pretty options. This is your chance to show YOUR style and have fun.

Step 5: Add a quilt or a throw to the end of the bed. This final layer is such a pretty finishing touch. It adds texture and a touch of cozy to the look. Plus, my girls love to climb into our bed and snuggle up with my blankets and throws when they play or watch our tv.
